Potential Source for Electric Lawnmower Motors

Just FYI in case one of your readers wants to build an electric mower, Surplus Center has

24 VDC LAWNMOWER MOTOR  69.95

New. Tecumseh 90000A. Built as motor for cordless electric lawnmowers. Permanent magnet motor. End bell of motor is aluminum casting similar to gas engine mower mount. Shaft end tapped 3/8"-24 RH.

 

Beats the 3/4 HP 1800 RPM $300 leeson in the article.  The Tecumseh is 1.54 HP 3200 RPM at 24 VDC, Should still have approx the same power as the leeson at 12 VDC.

American Science & Surplus also has DC Lawnmower motors from time to time. (None listed right now though)
